Thaugh Challenges, “Coalition Umwana Ku Isonga” are pleased to the government steps

Thursday 5th July2018, the Forum of Civil Societywhose 19 members that fight for children right, Members are happy of law review governing child registration as the report which will be submitted in the Africa Union(AU) states.

When evaluating the report that that will be submitted to Commission in charge of child right in Africa Union, members of this forum called “Coalition Umwana Ku Isonga” that fight for children ‘right in Rwanda, they were pleased of the child registration law review.

Sekanyange Jean Leonald the Coordinator and spokesperson as well of this forum of civil society explains how far with the registration process, yet the implementation has started.

“Born child registration is done by the father or mother, but if none the child is registered by who else with the parent relationship with the birth clearance. In addition, it is also done when there are two witnesses whose 18 years old”Sekanyange said.

Ruzigana Maximillien the coordinator of the 19 organizations that fight for children’ right said that skin punishments of young children and old ones, are prohibited and parents can’t afford such punishments.

“Even if a child made fouls or mistakes, a child needs the other kinds of punishments and therefore we request teachers and parents to look for the other punishments that do not destroy peaple’ skin and we wish the government to support and establish instructions that can be given in case” Ruzigana said.

This law review, prevents parents from beating children, the Ministry’s law that prevents school leaders from beating children using sticks but it needs that there should be the ministry decree which governs punishments giving to children because there are some who are being punished this way.

This report correlates with the government ‘report which explains what done for fulfilling African Contracts about children ‘right. It is about children ‘right for Education, Health, Civil registration right and Right to speak.

As recommendations given they found that there are challenges and they said that government should facilitate children to find civil registration process easily, to give them freedom to speak for recommended thoughts to them, to put in family those with disabilities and to provide materials in schools of the disables.

On the other hand “coalition Umwana ku Isonga” has many objectives sach as to promote the principle of equality of rights and duties between the children of both sexes,to provide a framework for discussion on the rights of the child and to promote cooperation in the fight against violence against children and so on.
